Faisal II was the only son to the second king of Iraq, Ghazy, who was killed in a car accident. King Faisal was an infant when this happened, so the uncle assumed power as regent till the young king reached the 14'th of his age and baceme the last king of Iraq before army officers, led by Abdel kareem Qasim stormed Baghdad and overthrew the monarchy.

More info here on Wikipedia (the "killing" section has more to talk about than bluntly put as indicated there)

I read the wikipedia article, it was so sad, to loose his father so young and to die so young himself and tragically

No only King Faisal II lost his father at a young age, he also lost his mother when he was 15 years old.
A little know fact is that he suffered from asthma.

Abdullah Bakr my grandfather was the last Minister of the Royal House of Iraq is featured in a lot of these pictures. He passed away about five years ago. He described King Faisal II as a very decent man, much nobler than the Iraqi leader that came after him. Iraq got caught up in a larger regional conflict and is paying the price until today.

The Kingdom of Iraq, under HRH King Faisal II reign, and British rule as a mandated territory was a more civilized and tranquil country than it has been since that heinous and most horrible day; the July 14 1958 when King Faisal II was brutally murdered by - what I would call - barbarians, animals and savages.
King Faisal II was an amiable, intelligent and eloquently spoken young monarch in both English and Arabic. What a tremendous loss Iraq had to endure since that dark day of July 14 1953.
